PM is a tool to ensure that managers manage effectively by ensuring their teams:

  • Know and understand the business’ objectives
  • Know and understand what is expected of them
  • Know how their role fits with the business
  • Have the skills to deliver on these expectations
  • Are supported by the organisation to develop the capacity to meet these expectations
  • Have the opportunity to discuss and contribute to individual and team aims and objectives
  • Accept responsibility for (their) improvement
  • Know what happens if they fail
