Changes coming in on 29 July 2013

Now we know that 29 July 2013 is going to be a significant date for those dealing with employment law matters as the following will come in to force on that day:

  •  Fees in Employment Tribunals and the EAT (although these are currently subject to judicial review proceedings in both England and Scotland);
  • New Employment Tribunal Rules;
  • Compromise Agreements will be re-named Settlement Agreements; and
  • Pre-termination negotiations will be deemed inadmissible in unfair dismissal proceedings (subject to certain limitations).

The previously published information was that the above would come in to force in “summer 2013” but now the date of 29 July 2013 has been set in secondary legislation (the latest of which was published today).
